Here is a little extract from a friend of mine who was a committed atheist for 43 years...

"I remember saying okay I give in, I desperately want you in my life; I am sorry for expecting some sort of concrete proof and just asking for God to fill me with the Holy Spirit. Having asked this and being filled with the Spirit, I was able to see all the proof I had ever needed (and see it every day more and more). Some times I think people like me build such walls around themselves, they cannot break them down, only God can. My revelation came when I just gave in and asked for help and forgiveness for my stupidity and arrogance. Now I know that lots of the questions I have asked over the years are irrelevant."

The whole point of the this site is to emphasise that God, and Jesus, is real. He can be known, experience and He speaks. All this rather undermines the arguments of those who say God does not exist. He wants to know you. He loves you. He gave His own Son, so that you might have life and life to the full. The question is, what is your response?

Do you want to know your Creator, discover the real meaning for your life, experience true satisfaction and joy? If the answer is yes then submit yourself to Jesus Christ. It starts with words: Tell Him that you are sorry that you have previously rejected Him, rebelled against Him and ignored Him. Ask for his forgiveness and acknowledge that this forgiveness comes to you because Jesus has accepted the punishment for all these things on your behalf. Thank Him that he is a God that cares enough about justice to punish sin, but cares enough about mercy to do something about Himself. Thank Him that he is powerful enough to raise Jesus from the dead. Ask the Lord Jesus into your life, and to fill you with His Holy Spirit.

If you do this with a genuine heart, the Bible says you are free. Free to choose to sin or not to sin. Free to follow Jesus and obey Him. Free from sin's power over your life. God will begin to change you from the inside out - all in good ways! You have a new life in Christ (read the Bible book called 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17).

The Bible sums this all up by saying repent (turn towards God) and be baptised (fully immersed in water - in and out!). Being baptised is an outward sign of an inward condition (rather like a wedding ring shows that I am married, but does not make me married). Baptism is a public (in front of someone) witness of your devotion to Jesus Christ and an illustration of what has happened to you (you have died with Christ, and raised to new spiritual life with Him). It is significant and important, and it is in many ways the first test as to whether you are willing to obedient and follow Jesus for the rest of your life.

You can be baptised anywhere where there is plenty of water, although if you walk into any Jesus-centred Bible-believing church they will be more than happy to help you. Yes, the church! When you begin to follow Jesus Christ you immediately belong to his family - the church. Make that a practical reality, and gain a greater understanding of the Bible, by finding a local church to belong to and to be known. If you are struggling about any of the above, then please contact me. I would love to hear from you regardless of what decisions you make as I welcome any opportunity to discuss my faith in Jesus, or the privilege of knowing he has changed other people's lives.
